“There is no risk of a payment default in Moldova,” Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanii said at a news conference on April 11, Info-Prim Neo reports. The central bank’s foreign exchange reserves are replenished. More than US$100 million was purchased from the market during the last month. The foreign exchange reserves meet the norms, totaling over US$1.2 million, the Premier said. She also said that Moldova pays the foreign debts in accordance with the plan as this is a priority for the Government. The foreign currency from the state budget kept at the central bank is used exclusively for foreign payments. “Given that the budget revenues fell by about 1.5 billion lei, we will ask the Paris Club to reschedule a part of the debts to bilateral creditors, but this is not a strict necessity. We will see how the situation develops as the rescheduling of some debts can cost more than their immediate payment,” Zinaida Greceanii said.
