The Party of Socialists’ candidate Zinaida Grecheanyi promises that the municipality of Chisinau will become a city of children, where new nurseries and over 400 playgrounds will be set up and where each district will have by a town-park of children. The candidate made such promises in a news conference held in front of a former nursery school situated in Buiucani district of Chisinau, IPN reports.
Zinaida Grecheanyi said that 23 nurseries and 60 adjoining plots were illegally sold in Chisinau over the last eight years, with the involvement of the local administration of Chisinau and courts of law. Currently, over 21,000 children are waiting to be enrolled at a nursery school, but no new such school was opened in the capital city in the period. The process of optimizing the schools is inappropriate and these are short of teachers.
The candidate said the Party of Socialists aims to create a city of children during the next four years, first of all by stopping the sale of education institutions and the adjoining land. The nurseries for families with two and more children of preschool age must be free of charge. New kindergartens will be built in the suburban settlements to satisfy the needs. In the quarters where new buildings are erected, nursery schools will be designed simultaneously.
Zinaida Grecheanyi said the problem of social apartments can be solved by signing relevant agreements with building companies under which the municipality will offer plots on which to construct blocks in exchange for 30% of the apartments that will be built. Later these apartments will be provided to young families. At the birth of a child, the municipality will offer by 2,000 lei in addition to the child benefit provided now.
In the second round of the mayoral elections in Chisinau on June 28, Zinaida Grecheanyi competes against Dorin Chirtoaca.
