The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor of Chisinau Zinaida Grechenyi does not take part in the televised electoral debates because she prefers to meet with the voters in person. She provided such an explanation in the program “Interpol” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
“I’m used to work and to deal with concrete things. Taking part in TV programs does not form part of my lifestyle. I’m the person of concrete things. I know that my appearance on TV will not change things in the country. I chose to meet with the voters. I had over 200 meetings with the voters in Chisinau, mainly staffs,” said Grecheanyi.
She denied the accusations that members of her family took out dubious loans from Banca de Economii, made by former election runners and media outlets. “My husband worked as a technical director at the wine factory in Cojusna. The technical directors do not take out loans. The factory got a loan, but this was repaid long ago. I have nothing to do with those loans. My husband has no connection with offshore companies, as they say. Also, anticorruption prosecutor Vasile Morosanu is not my nephew. My family has nothing to do with the theft of billions of lei. We are in an election campaign and this explains the attacks on me,” said the candidate.
Asked about the latest revelations about the backers of the Party of Socialists, Grecheanyi said she knows nothing about this. “I’m not a member of this party and have nothing to do with its finances. I’m not involved in this. I don’t know how much the election campaign cost. I’m sure that no money was charged for promoting the interests of the companies that asked us to help resume export to Russia. It was agreed to take no money from them. What they say and write on the last 100 meters of the election campaign is not always true,” she stated.
