Speaker of Parliament Zinaida Grechanyi said she voted for peace and harmony and the rain falling today, November 1, means exactly what she voted for. “I voted for a President who would be proud of the own people, who would take care of the own country and would know to unite everyone together,” the leader of the Party of Socialists stated after casting her ballot, IPN reports.

According to her, such a President could ensure the country’s development. The leader of the PSRM also said that she voted for a President who, when paying visits abroad, would never say bad things about his own country and people.

The politician noted that in the course of the day she will be near her party mates and they will monitor voting so that the elections are fair.

The polls are open until 9pm. If need be, their program will be extended for two hours. As many as 2 807 182 citizens eligible to vote are expected to go to the polls today. A minimum voter turnout of one third of the voters put on the register of voters is needed for the elections to be validated.
