Chisinau-based sides Zimbru and Dacia qualified for the second preliminary round of the Europa League, Info-Prim Neo reports. After a scoreless draw away, Zimbru worked hard to obtain a 2-1 victory over Welsh side Bangor City on home soil. The Yellow-Greens’ both goals were netted by striker Oleg Molla in the first half. The guests’ hopes were revived by Mark Smyth’s strike, but Zimbru managed to defend their lead on the scoresheet. Zimbru had coach Oleg Bejenari on the bench. Although he was sacked after the first leg in Wales, the club board decided to give him one more chance. In the next round of the Europa League, Zimbru will take on Switzerland’s Young Boys. Dacia won the second leg against the Slovenians of NK Celje, score 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored from a penalty kick by midfielder Mahim Mihailiov in the first half. Like in the first leg, the Yellow Wolves had a player sent off. This time it was Macedonian forward Ersen Sali. Next, the boys coached by Igor Dobrovolski will take on Elfsborg of Sweden. The second preliminary round of the Europa League is scheduled for July 19 and 26. In this round, the Chisinau duo will be joined by Milsami Orhei. The holder of the Moldovan Cup and of the Supercup will play the Kazakhs of Aktobe. Next week, Moldovan champions Sheriff will enter the European competitions in the second qualifying round, where they will meet the Armenian side Ulysses.
