“Moldova’s Government has launched a project to consolidate the building of infrastructure and China has many advantages, such as capital, equipment, technology and talents and is ready to work with Moldova as part of the Belt and Road initiative so as to actively develop pragmatic cooperation in different areas and to help Moldova in realizing the development,” China’s Ambassador in Chisinau Zhang Yinghong stated in a reception with representatives of the media and NGO sector held on the occasion of the winter holidays, IPN reports.

The ambassador believes the prospects of the cooperation between China and Moldova are very bright and promising. “A Chinese proverb says, “If you want to get rich, build a road first”. Thus, after 40 years of reform and openness, China built the largest network of highways in the world, with over 120,000 km of railways, 20,000 km of which are high-speed rail, representing 60% of the world total. Seven of the largest ports in the world are in China,” stated the diplomat.

Zhang Yinghong also said that in time China’s Embassy maintained good relations with the mass media and think tanks of Moldova, cooperated together to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and Moldova. “Each year, we invite representatives of the Moldovan media to visit China and these published a large number of articles about the development and changes of China, which were welcomed by the Moldovan people,” noted the ambassador.

He thanked all the journalists and voiced hope that these will continue to play the role of a bridge and link for friendly Chinese-Moldovan exchanges and to make an increasing contribution to developing the relations between the two countries.

Zhang Yinghong also said that it has been the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. In the course of these years, China became the second largest economy in the world and the largest trader of goods, making a contribution of over 30% to the world economic growth, and implemented the first stage in the institution of the largest system of education, social security, medical assistance and democracy.

Zhang Yinghong stated that for the first time in 2020, China will fully get rid of poverty and will build a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
