The German city of Koln hosted a new edition of the Boxing World Cup that involved 69 boxers from 14 countries, IPN reports.

Moldova was represented by four pugilists from Grimăncăuți: Davron Bozorov (69 kg weight class), Vlad Gavriliuc (75 kg), Andrei Zaplitnyi (91 kg) and Alexei Zavatin (+91 kg).

Zavatin and Bozorov scored victories in the fights against Belgium’s Idris Sinembio and, respectively, Germany’s Chris Marco Eloundo, winning bronzes.

The boxing tournament to secure qualification for the Tokyo Olympics will take place in Paris in June. Moldova will be resented there by Alexandru Paraskiv.
