Zaria Balti and Zimbru Chisinau have slimmer chances of qualifying for the second round of the UEFA Europa League. Zaria was beaten by Videoton away 3-0, while Zimbru lost at home to Chikhura 0-1.
Zaria was led by 1-0 until the 88th minute. But after Picushchiak was sent off in the 83rd minute, the Hungarian players scored twice through Feczesin. Several seconds before the end of the game, Suvorov of Zaria was sent off.
Zimbru didn’t lose so drastically even if it played for almost half an hour with fewer footballers after the elimination of Anton. The team still has chances to qualify after the 0-1 defeat to Chikhura. Tatanashvili scored the only goal for the Georgian team in the 40th minute.
“We lost the first-leg match, but will do our best to win in Georgia so as to qualify,” Zimbru coach Flavius Stoican told a news conference.
The return matches were scheduled for next week.
