Zaria has qualified for the final of Moldova’s Football Cup for the second consecutive year. The current holder of the trophy eliminated Zimbru, which has no more chances of getting a place in the European cups, IPN reports.
The only goal of the match played in Balti was scored by Alexandru Suvorov in the 115th minute. ”Zaria has more experienced players in the lineup and these showed their class in the overtime,” Zimbru coach Stefan Stoica told a news conference.
In the final, Zaria plays against Sheriff, which needed the penalty shootout to defeat Petrocub. The normal period of the game ended by 1-1. Calugher opened the score in the 11th minute by a superb kick from a long distance, but Sheriff tied towards the end of the first half through Savic. Patras and Osipenko failed to score in the penalty shootout for Petrocub.
The encounter between Zaria and Sheriff will take place at the Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau on May 25, 2017. Sheriff has won Moldova’s Cup for most of the times - eight.
