Zalina Marghiev brings another bronze to Moldova

Zalina Marghiev has won a bronze medal at the World Universiade that is taking place in Russia’s Kazan. The 25-year-old athlete ranked third in hammer throwing with the result of 71.10 meters, IPN reports. At the previous edition of the student competition, Zalina won gold.

Weightlifter Artiom Pipa may win a medal in the 77 kg class on July 10. He now ranks third, after the snatch event. His colleague Andrei Bitca (77 kg) comes eleventh.

Moldova has already won nine medals at the University Games. One of them is silver, while the rest are bronze medals. Medals were won by boxers Dumitru Galagot and Alexandru Rascan, wrestlers Maxim Mamulat, Mihail Cosnicean, Anatolie Moldovan, and Igor Besleaga, and weightlifter Oleg Sirghi.

The freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers, the canoeists and sambo players enter the competitions the next days.

Russia has won the largest number of medals so far – 92. Of them, 45 are gold medals. The World Universiade closes on July 17.
