Yuri Dementiev, who until now held the post of chief of the Operational Coordination Division of the National Public Security Inspectorate, was named acting chief of the Inspectorate by order of the Ministry of Home Affairs, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Inspectorate.
Yuri Dementiev has worked in the police since 2013. In 1993 – 1998, he was a student of the Stephan the Great Academy of the Ministry of Home Affairs, while in 1998 – 2013 held a number of posts in the Carabineer Troops Department.
The appointment of Yuri Dementiev comes after the former head of the Inspectorate Sergiu Paiu was named chief of the General Police Inspectorate on June 17. During over a month, the National Public Security Inspectorate was managed by the institution’s deputy head on an interim basis.
