A woman who manages a YouTube channel did not pay to the state 370,000 lei taxes on an income of about 3 million lei, obtained from Google company in 2021 and 2022. A criminal case was started against the YouTuber. The woman is 30 years old, lives in the north of the country and manages a channel with hundreds of thousands of followers. The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases informed about the indictment, referring to information obtained from the State Tax Service, IPN reports.

The institution noted that the young woman did not submit a tax return, committing thus tax evasion. The vlogger benefits from the presumption of innocence, until the Buiucani Court of Chisinau passes judgement.

Under the Criminal Code, tax evasion by individuals who do not practice entrepreneurial activities is punished with a fine of up to 117,000 lei or even with up to one year in jail.

In this connection, the Prosecutor’s Office and the State Tax Service urge taxpayers to comply with the obligation to pay taxes into the state budget, on time and in full, with accurate and correctly submitted tax returns.
