The youth wing of the Socialist Party “Youth Guard” demands that Head of Parliament Marian Lupu should be dismissed because he is to blame for the cancelation of the presidential elections that were to take place on January 15. He asked that the MPs should show how they voted in the December 16 ordinary elections, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The activists protested in front of the Palace of the Republic, where Parliament holds its sittings. They said they will protest until Marian Lupu is dismissed.
“Marian Lupu uses all the methods possible in order to remain in power. We will protest until we are heard. We consider that the Alliance for European Integration and Marian Lupu showed once again that they are unable to rule. Marian Lupu should be the guarantor of the Constitution, but he takes steps that compromise this power. The Constitutional Court intentionally invalidated the December 16 elections,” said one of the activists of the “Youth Guard” Eugenia Batca.
Activist Diana Tanga said the cancelation of the elections forms part of a game played by the ruling alliance and Marian Lupu. “He knew that the elections will be cancelled because all the MPs showed the ballots before throwing them into the ballot box. We want that Marian Lupu be dismissed,” she said.
The protest involved about 60 persons.
The Constitutional Court declared the December 16 presidential elections unconstitutional because the secrecy of the vote was infringed. Thus, the January 15 elections will not take place.
