100 young persons from different districts of the country have engaged in identifying and solving problems in their native communities, after receiving specific training during seven months, from September to October, as part of a project titled “I Can – We Can: Empowering Rural Youth” and implemented by the NGO “Certitudine”, Info-Prim Neo reports. The beneficiaries from Falesti, Drochia, Sangerei and Balti were trained on how decisions are made at local level, how to create and manage an active community organization, how to develop project proposals, and on other issues. Besides the training component, the young persons were exposed to financing opportunities for youth interventions available at both national and international levels, to the benefits of electronic newsletters, news alerts and other opportunities provided by the internet, to how they can receive support in starting local youth organizations and in developing project proposals. Practical activities under the project included community interventions such as holding a clean-up event and installing a playground (Pirlita village, Falesti district); arranging a school laundry (Alexandreni, Singerei); unfolding a clean-up and awareness-raising campaign (Marandeni. Falesti); organizing an essay competition on the benefits of bicycles as a means of green transportation and building two bicycle parking places at school (Pelinia, Drochia); and contributing with new books to the community library (Elizaveta, Balti municipality). The “I Can – We Can: Empowering Rural Youth” Project is implemented with the support of the international organization FHI 360 under the USAID/Moldova Civil Society Strengthening Program.
