The Ministry of Youth and Sport has launched two campaigns themed “Young People are a Resource” and “European Youth Card” on the occasion of the Youth Days 2010, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The information campaign “Young People are a Resource” aims to disseminate the idea that the young people deserve being promoted,” Minister of Youth and Sport Ion Ceban said Tuesday.
Valeriu Ciorba, director of the European Youth Card project, said the youth card that offers discounts of 3-75% on products and services is used in 38 countries. The offer is valid for all the holders of the card, no matter what country issued it.
More than 130 companies in Moldova give discounts in over 400 retail and services outlets. The discounts are offered for trips, accommodation, food products, health and beauty packages, recreation, etc. In Europe, there are over 100,000 such discount points.
According to Valeriu Ciorba, the card is given free of charge to all the applicants aged between 16 and 30 inclusive. Mobile teams travel to places that are attended by young people and inform them how they can get the discount card. The website cardtineret.md will soon provide a method of applying for the card online.
From November, on each 30th day of the month, the card will allow the holders to enter the most important state museums, theaters and concert institutions free of charge or at significant discounts. A free mobile phone package is now also offered. It allows the holders of the card to communicate between them at a cost of 0.1 leu per minute and to use 50 Mb of mobile internet gratis.
The Youth Days are held in Moldova between November 6 and 23. An international meeting of the GUAM youth leaders will take place in Chisinau during November 18-21.
