A woman aged 23 from Comrat district is suspected of killing her boy aged nine months. She was arrested and is to be subject to psychiatric tests. The woman will be questioned so as to find out what made her resort to such an act.
Contacted by IPN, prosecutor of Comrat district Vasile Stoinov said that on February 28, when the case happened, the woman’s husband was away. It is alleged that the child was strangled. The cause of death is to be determined by medical examiners.
The local family doctor has told IPN that the boy was the only child of the couple. During pregnancy and after giving birth, the young woman came to all the required examinations. The woman looked after the baby and never behaved strangely. The last time the mother and the child made a visit to the doctor on February 6.
The young woman faces 5 to 20 years in jail or life for deliberate murder.
