The municipality has launched a pilot program titled “Start-up for young people and migrants”. This is aimed at stimulating entrepreneurship among young people and migrants from the municipality of Chisinau by facilitating the launch and development of sustainable businesses. The program is intended for persons aged between 18 and 40 who have the domicile in the municipality of Chisinau. If the business was already launched, this should be based in the municipality, IPN reports.

“We want a lot our young people to remain at home after they study at universities here or abroad, to return home and be able to develop a business and contribute to increasing welfare in the country, with minimum family comfort. This is the final goal of this program by which we aim to train as many young people in the field of entrepreneurship as possible,” mayor Ion Ceban stated in the launch.

Deputy mayor Olga Ursu noted that often the startups during the first year are viable, but then few of them continue operating. Therefore, it is very important to train the future entrepreneurs and those who already started a business. Financial support will be provided within the program. Also, connections will be ensured with the business community, institutions etc.

“At the first stage that starts in autumn, assistance of up to 200,000 lei will be provided for initiating or developing the business. The beneficiary’s contribution will represent at least 30% of the value of the investment project. At the second stage, we will subsidize the interest rate paid on loans raised for investing in the own business. This will be implemented starting with next year… Today we launch not only the program itself, but also a series of training seminars in different areas, from business starting, studying of the fiscal area, marketing methods, accounting, legal and other kinds of services,” explained Olga Ursu.

A sum of 10 million lei was allocated for implementing the program this year. The interested young people can visit the program’s website to find out more details, including about the eligible areas.
