Young people from socially disadvantaged families from both banks of the Nistru River will benefit from free consultancy services so as to be able to easier integrate into the social-professional environment. An agreement to this effect was signed on July 4 by the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, the public association “Demos” and the association “Amici dei Bambini Moldova” within the project “Common initiatives of civil society organizations from both sides of the Nistru aimed at the social-professional integration of disadvantaged young people of the Republic of Moldova”, IPN reports.
Six nongovernmental organizations will offer psychological, legal and educational assistance to young people and the possibility of forming oneself professionally with subsequent integration into the labor market. The young people will also benefit from financial assistance for basic necessities.
Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Stela Grigoras noted that the switchover from school to work is rather hard for young people and this is primarily due to the education system. “There are a number of factors that determine this difficult process. Among these are the skills gained by the young people in the education system and our abilities to identify the labor market needs. We must offer equal chances to the young people and ensure better living conditions for them at home,” said the minister.
“Demos” director Liliana Sancov stated that within the project the young people will be able to attend short-term specialty courses, if necessary, and learn such jobs as hairdo, locksmith, electrician, masseur and bookkeeper. These will be involved in the project for a period of six to twelve months and a post-monitoring period will follow to see how the young people behave independently.
Victor Moroz, national coordinator of “Demos”, said the young people will learn about the project from the local authorities, which will be informed about it by multidisciplinary teams. “The goal is to help the disadvantaged young people to find a job. If they do not have identification papers, we will help them obtain these. If they do not have a place to stay, we will provide them with free accommodation for a period of two months. Such services will be for now provided by six public associations that were selected and trained to provide these,” stated Victor Moroz.
A number of 275 young people from socially deprived families are to be placed within the project.
