The Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) "Viitorul" is launching the project "Reporting Disinformation and Fake News in the Republic of Moldova," an initiative running from December 2024 to March 2025, with the support of NATO's Public Diplomacy Division, IPN reports.

The project's aim is to develop critical thinking, media literacy, and the ability to resist manipulation, especially for young people, students, and opinion leaders. Through awareness and training activities, the initiative seeks to increase the resilience of Moldovan society against disinformation campaigns, primarily coming from the Russian Federation.

Opportunities for Young People:

25 participants aged over 18 will be selected, including students, members of civil society organizations, and youth center representatives. The young people will attend practical workshops where they will learn to identify and counter disinformation, create infographics and video materials to combat manipulative narratives.

Hackathons and Prizes:

Throughout the project, participants will take part in three hackathons, during which they will develop 18 content products to be distributed on Facebook to increase the public's level of awareness. The most active and creative participants will win a study visit to Brussels.

Young people interested in combating disinformation can apply for the IDIS "Viitorul" project until January 17, 2025, at 18:00, by sending an email to maria.procopciuc@viitorul.org with their personal data, age, status, and motivation for participation. See more details HERE!
