A 31-year-old man died last night in a house fire in Călărași town. According to the preliminary version, he overheated the stove and nearby left things that caught fire, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that the call to the 112 Service was received at about 01:20 a.m. The team of firefighters that travelled to the scene found the body of the young man inside the house. He supposedly got poisoned with carbon monoxide.
The fire was completely extinguished at around 03:30 p.m. Following the examinations carried out on the spot, specialists established that the fire broke out after the house owner overheated the stove, leaving things near it, which later caught fire. All the circumstances of the fire are to be determined by the competent bodies.
Another fire occurred in a house in Rediul Mare village of Dondușeni district. There, a 36-year-old woman suffered second- and third-degree burns on her body. The young woman was taken to the district hospital for medical care. It was preliminarily established that the fire happened due to non-compliance with the safety rules when using the stove, namely the failure to clean the smoke exhaust duct.
The Inspectorate urges the people to strictly observe the fire protection rules when using stoves, to clean the smoke exhaust ducts before using the stoves, not to clog the ventilation ducts and periodically ventilate the rooms where a fire is started. Specialists also recommend that furniture and other highly flammable items should be removed from near the stove.
