A young man from Rascani district was arrested on suspicion that he asked for and received €650 from a family from Balti for hastening the process of obtaining Romanian nationality. The man is investigated for traffic of influence and faces up to six years in jail or a fine of at most 200,000 lei, IPN reports.
The young man was denounced by those from whom he got the money as he didn’t deliver his promise. The suspect insisted that he can influence employees of the Romanian Consulate and of the National Citizenship Authority to hasten the process of providing Romanian nationality.
The case is investigated by the National Anticorruption Center and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
