A 25-year-old man from Orhei district was sentenced to 15 years in jail for robbery and injuring that resulted in the death of a woman.
According to the Prosecutor Generals Office, the case happened last April. The victim was returning home from work. When she entered the yard of the block where she lived, she was attacked by an individual, who hit her with a solid object in the head and took her bag. The woman managed to get home, but went into a coma in several minutes and no longer regained consciousness. She died in the hospital in ten days.
The aggressor was arrested in about two months of the commission of the crime. Though he didn’t admit his guilt, the prosecutors collected enough evidence to prove his guilt. The sentence is not yet definitive.
