A Falesti man complained to the police after he discovered that he sold his car to three young men for counterfeit money. The police arrested one of them, a 23-year-old from the Transnistrian region.
The suspect told the police the fake money had been bought from other persons in the region. The man has been arrested for 30 days, the General Police Inspectorate said.
The investigation continues in order to discover the entire group and hold all its members accountable. The crime of counterfeiting money and circulating it is punishable by 5 to 10 years in prison.
