Young man faces up to six years in jail for traffic of influence

A man aged 27 was arrested on traffic of influence charges. He asserted he has influence over employees of the Polish Embassy in Chisinau and can convince them to issue the necessary visas. He asked for €1,500 for helping obtain a Polish visa and transporting the applicant to Poland, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Anticorruption Center, the man was arrested on Bucuriei St when he was taking €300 from a person. The money represented the first tranche of the asked €1,500. The bills marked ‘bribe’ were found in the pocket of the suspect’s coat. If he is found guilty, the man will be imprisoned for up to six years or fined up to 60,000 lei.
