Young man drowns in pond

A 20-year-old man got drowned in a pond that was used for irrigation. Liliana Puscasu, the spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the accident happened in Bravicea village in Calarasi district. The man swam in the pond on July 14 and drowned. His body was taken out of the water by residents of the village. About 10 hectares of cereals belonging to SRL “Agroholtineni” were destroyed by fire near Valea Perjei village in Cimislia district. The fire broke out as a result of a fault in the Forshid-517 combine and spread rapidly owing to the wind. Specialists say that during windy weather the fire destroys 500-600 square meters of cereals in a minute, so that the flames engulfed about 10 hectares in 15 minutes. Three firefighter teams struggled to put the fire out and saved another 60 hectares of cereals. The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service calls on the population to be careful when using open fire and not to throw lit cigarettes. Owing to short circuits in the engine section, a VAZ-2107 in Orhei town and an Audi in Chisinau city started to burn and were partially destroyed. The fire brigade was called to two houses to extinguish the burning bedcovers and beds, ignited most probably by a cigarette. A fire was caused by children. Eighteen fires happened in Moldova on July 14, including 9 in Chisinau.
