A man aged 31 from Tiraspol was placed under arrest for 72 hours, being suspected of setting fire to the man who hosted him. The man died after refusing medical care. It happened in Botanica district of Chisinau, IPN reports.

According to the Chisinau Police Division, the young man rented a room in the man’s house. The wife of the 54-year-old man related that one day earlier, he went to a friend accompanied by the young man and returned with multiple burns on the body. He didn’t want an ambulance team to be called out.

The suspected young man confessed that as a result of a conflict, he splashed the man with an inflammable substance and set him on fire. But he then extinguished the fire and they both went home.

The young man faces 12 to 15 years in jail for causing serious bodily injuries.
