Twenty-four young journalists will take part in a summer school themed “New Media or New Society” between August 9 and August 13. The event is organized by the Young Journalist's Center of Moldova. “This school is aimed at educating a new generation of journalists who will be politically impartial and will try to be as objectives as possible, not influenced by doctrines,” project coordinator Natalia Mogaldea has told Info-Prim Neo. The young journalists will learn how to write and edit social and political articles and opinion polls on the basis of the principles of professional ethics and transparency. They will be taught by experienced teachers, including Ion Bunduchi, the head of the Electronic Press Association, Doru Petruti, the head of the Marketing and Polling Institute IMAS, photojournalist Nicolae Pojoga. “The 25 young journalists were selected out of 40 applicants who filed their CVs and wrote an essay on the topic “What are the Challenges faced by the Mass Media at Present?” Natalia Mogaldea said. The journalists are members of editorial teams of district school newspapers, employees of PR and communication organizations, and students of national faculties of journalism who cooperate with different mass media institutions. “At the end of the summer school, we will organize a debate so as to see if this experience was useful for them and if they will be able to share their knowledge with their colleagues,” the project coordinator said. The Young Journalist's Center of Moldova was founded on September 25, 2002 by a group of 11 young journalists with the support of the Independent Journalism Center and the Representative Office of UNICEF in Moldova.
