A number of 25 young people, together with members of the National Environment Center, will go on an expedition along the Byk River on July 7. The will set off in Temeleuti village of Calarasi district, where the Byk springs. The expedition will end at the Byk Mouth in Anenii Noi on July 14. The young people aim to identify unauthorized waste dumps or other sources that pollute the river, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the National Environment Center, after the sources that pollute the environment are identified, the young people will determine the places were protection areas are missing and will mark them on the map. Afterward, within a tree planting campaign, these areas will be restored.
The expedition is organized within the Young People in Action Project that is implemented by the National Environment Center, supported by the Democracy Grants Program of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova.
