Maria Granici, a Russian language teacher of the Cahul-based high school “P. Rumeantsev”, became the laureate of the prize “Sodrujestvo Debiutov” (“Community of Debuts”), Info-Prim Neo reports. The prize was awarded for the first time at the third CIS Intellectuality Forum held in Dushanbe in 2008. The prize was instituted with the aim of supporting the young teachers and appreciating their professionalism and devotion. Under the decision made by a special commission, nine prizes are awarded each year – by three for teaching history, the native language and Russian. Maria Granici is 24. She has worked as a Russian language teacher for two years. “The contest commission probably liked my lessons that they attended. They liked the connection between me and my students at the lessons. Usually, it is a connection that comes from the heart. I'm very glad that I received this prize and that I could speak about the problems concerning the teaching of Russian in national schools with young teachers from the CIS,” Granici said.
