Young Basarabians National Union backs Pantiru for Romanian Parliament

The Young Basarabians National Union (YBNU) from Romania supports Tudor Pantiru, the candidate of the Social-Democratic Party (PSD), in the poll for the Romanian parliament. Representatives of the association expressed their respect for Tudor Pantiru and for the candidate of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Nicolae Dabija. At a news conference hosted by Info-Prim Neo agency, on Thursday, they harshly criticized Eugen Tomac, the candidate of the Democratic-Liberal Party. “In this electoral fight, we have two candidates, extremely valuable, with huge professional experience, and an age when you want to explore the gained experience in society's favor. On the other hand, we find a big liar, although young, who has unfortunately, managed to steal from the electoral lucidity,” said YBNU's deputy president Dorin Casu. YBNU's president Corneliu Radauta said “Eugen Tomac is fruit polished by the partisan journalist Roncea (Romanian journalist Victor Roncea – e.n.) and the peasant Rosca (the president of the Moldovan Christian-Democrats (PPCD), Iurie Rosca – e.n.), a big liar.” According to Radauta, Tomac is backed in this campaign by the Organization of Basarabian Students (OSB) -- “youths dreaming of being the representatives of the young Basarabians in Romania, as Rosca dreams of being a country president, but they actually are the remnants of the PPCD's youth organization.” “With all the the respect that we have for Nicolae Dabija, and assuring him we'll support him in all his cultural projects, in this decisive political moment we back Tudor Pantiru. He is a professional, has juridical experience and the necessary reputation. He is certainly an ambassador who will represent us in the Romanian Parliament,” said Irina Gutan, a YBNU member. YBNU's general secretary Andrei Savciuc says the OSB is a pseudo-structure, not registered by the Romanian Justice Ministry. He accuses Eugen Tomac of lying when saying he is an advisor for the president Traian Basescu. “The proof is to be found on the Romanian presidency's site, which announces that the advisor for the relation with the Romanians from abroad is Anca Ilinoi,” Andrei Savciuc said. YBNU says it's the only association in Romania representing the Basarabian pupils, students and graduates and it offers continuity in this support. YBNU is almost one year and has some 500 members in Bucharest and representatives in 17 university cities in Romania. Eugen Tomac told a news conference hosted by Info-Prim Neo earlier that he suspended his exercise of his function of a councilor for Traian Basescu during the electoral campaign. Tudor Pantiru was the chairman of the legal committee in the first Moldovan parliament. He is the first Moldovan judge at the UN and the first international judge of Romanian origin. Nicolae Dabija is a writer having struggled to return to the Romanian language in Moldova, as well as the tricolor flag and the Latin script.
