Young activists from six countries will come to Chisinau within an international project that aims to promote the European values. The young people are members of the nongovernmental organization Jeunes Européens Fédéralistes (JEF) Europe. JEF Europe Moldova representatives said the promotion of the European values is a necessity, especially for the young people, while this project aims to promote the European policies and to create a European thinking platform.
“This project is regarded as a cooperation platform between pro-European organizations from Eastern Europe,” JEF Europe Moldova representative Adrian Balutel said in a news conference at IPN. According to him, the promotion of the European values is a necessity in Moldova because the young people do not know much about the prospects that can appear after the country becomes part of the EU. Adrian Balutel referred to the combating of unemployment among young people and the creation of opportunities in education, healthcare and social integration.
In the second half of this year, the young people intend to implement another project that is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sport. Within it, volunteers of JEF Europe will travel to ten settlements of the country to inform the young people about the EU and the advantages of the projects launched by the EU in time. A similar initiative was put into practice last year.
JEF Europe Moldova member Ana Maria Cojocaru said the country will not have chances to become part of the EU until the young people do not have European thinking. The youth must act, while the JEF will make everything possible to inform as many young people as possible about the pro-European values.
JEF Europe is an NGO with over 30 branches in different countries. Its goal is to promote European integration ideas and to ensure European democracy. JEF Europe Moldova started work in 2004 and has over 20 members.
