“You are not alone!” is a project aimed at supporting all those who were seriously affected by the pandemic. During several months, ten certified volunteers, together with professional psychologists, will offer support online to those who need this – mourning persons, people who go through job burnout or who experience financial, career or business crises.

In a news conference at IPN, psychologist Liuba Ceban, author of the project, said she is concerned about the fact that in the public sphere there is not much empathy, understanding of the pain experienced by persons who suffer because of crises associated with the pandemic. “I think our moves and discussions in the public sphere are directed somehow incorrectly and that’s why I chose to speak today about the importance of drawing attention to the fact that there are persons among us who go through a serious pain associated with the pandemic,” she stated.

Liuba Ceban presented a video with the stories of three persons with whom those affected by the pandemic can identify themselves. “A week ago, COVID-19 took my father and I don’t know how I will live without him. “I’m a doctor and during three months I have struggled in the frontline for the life of persons with COVID-19. During three months, I haven’t seen my child and parents. How long can I yet endure? I want to go home!”, “The pandemic deprived me of job and I don’t know what I will eat tomorrow and how I will pay interest on bank loans,” say the messages conveyed by the protagonists.

Lia Vîrtosu, one of the psychologists of the project, said the initiative “You are not alone!” is based on a solid motive, involves qualified specialists from those who need assistance can seek help. “This project is like a bridge that passes from a state of turbulence and disquiet to a state of hope, a new alternative, acceptance, lucidity. If you are confused, you can seek help when you experience a state of anxiety,” stated Lia Vîrtosu.

As part of the “You are not alone!” project, live meetings on Facebook will be staged each evening, starting at 8pm, with persons who experience job burnout.

At 8pm on Wednesdays, discussions will be held with those who lost dear persons, while the Friday sessions from the same hour will be intended for those who go through financial crises. Involvement in the project is free of charge.

“You are not alone!” is a project designed by the public association “Altruism” with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova.
