Weather forecasters issued a yellow code advisory for local sub-inundations for June 3-7. Following the heavy precipitation, the level of water in small rivers is expected to rise by 0.5-1 m and intensive sloping outflows can occur with local sub-inundations.

“The local public authorities are obliged to regularly inspect all the drainage channels so that the water flows into precipices and does not accumulate in cellars and gardens. The Moldovans leave waste near precipices and clog up all the drainage channels. The drainage system is blocked or does not cope with the amount of precipitation,” head of the Hydrological Division of the State Weather Service Valeriu Cazacb stated for IPN.

He warned the inhabitants of villages and towns not to throw litter into rivers as they block the flow of water. The local authorities and business entities that manage accumulation lakes should check the state of levees, bridges and drainage channels.
