Year old murder case solved

The police have taken into custody a man suspected for the murder that took place a year ago in Edinet. The man is accused of setting fire to the car in which his co-villager was, leaving the latter to die in flames. According to the Ministry of Interior, the suspect claims that the victim had threatened him, and had “stolen” land lots from him, reports Info-Prim Neo. In September, last year, a completely burnt car was found in an orchard near the Cuconesti village, Edinet district, 1.5 kilometers away from the Border Patrol outpost. Further investigations discovered the carbonized bones of a man. The forensic doctor’s test determined that the bones belonged to a man, aged 50, from Varatic village, Riscani district. Back then, law enforcers started criminal proceedings, on the charge of intentional deterioration or destruction of goods through fire, explosion or other dangerous methods, punishable by up to 6 years in jail. As a result of additional investigations, it was established that the victim had a “CZ 92” pistol that had disappeared. The gun was later found during the search of one of the victim’s relatives’ toilet. The police found the gun and two magazines, one of which had six bullets in it. Upon interrogation by the police, the suspected admitted to having been threatened by the victim. The suspect is 44 years old, resident of Varatic village, Riscani district, previously tried for theft and falsifying banknotes. Presently, the suspect is under arrest for a burglary that he committed on the territory of Ungheni district.
