2022 was a year with many challenges for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. The severe drought, energy crisis and the war in Ukraine have had a serious impact on the agrifood sector of the Republic of Moldova. Nevertheless, a number of important initiatives were put into practice. These are presented in a video disseminated by the Government:
- National Agriculture and Rural Development Fund was raised to 1.75 billion lei;
- A bill to amend the legislation on the principles of subsidization in agriculture and rural areas was designed and this stipulates a new subsidization mechanism;
- State support was provided for subsidizing the excise duty on diesel fuel used by agricultural producers;
- Subsidies were allocated in advance for local development through the LEADER program;
- Food security strategy for 2023-2030 was adopted;
- Draft rural development program for 2023-2025 was finalized;
- Law on animal breeding aligned with the EU regulations was designed;
- List of socially important products was extended and the allowed profit margin was capped;
- Quota on agricultural products exported to the EU duty free was extended;
- Creation of green corridors at customs posts for clearing first agricultural products with special marking was promoted;
- Procedures for obtaining phytosanitary certificates for the EU were simplified;
- Procedure for constituting water user associations was simplified;
- The initiative to allow placing agricultural infrastructure facilities and photovoltaic systems on agricultural lots without changing their purpose was promoted.
