XV-th edition of the International Festival „New Music Days” ended on Thursday

The XV-th edition of the International Festival „New Music Days”, which ended on Thursday, has offered to the public classical music of the XX-th century, rarely performed more on Moldova’s stages, the festival’s director, composer Ghenadie Ciobanu, chairman of the Composers and Musicologists Union declared about this. According to Ciobanu, the slogan of the current edition of „New Music Days” was „Returning back to sources”. During the festival week, in 8 concerts performed by singers of 9 countries, there were presented the works of classics of the music of the XX-th century: Bella Bartock, Igor Stravinsky, Sergey Prokofiev, Alexander Skreabin, Ianys Xenakis, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Fransis Pulenk, Vitold Lutoslavski, George Enescu. At the same time, works of the Moldovan composers of different generations were also performed. The most important music bands with a rich experience in performing modern music participated in the festival – symphonic Orchestra of the Company „Teleradio-Moldova”, Orchestra of the National Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra of the Organ Hall, pianists duet Mahovici-Lapicus, Chamber Chorus conducted by Ilona Stepan, „Ars Poetica” Band, singers from Romania and Canada.
