Writers and translators from seven European states have come together in Chisinau for the fifth international festival European Spring of Poets. President of the Writers Union Arcadie Suceveanu said the cultural dialogue initiated at the previous editions is resumed within this festival that develops from year to year. The revival of translation in Moldova is one of the strong points of this dialogue, IPN reports.

Arcadie Suceveanu noted that discussions are being held with representatives of the Ministry of Culture for obtaining money for translating a number of works by Moldovan writers into European languages. Another objective of the festival is to put again into circulation the works of forgotten writers.

The program of the festival includes four symposiums – the international symposium “European Dialogues: poets and translators”, the symposium “Lucian Blaga: poet and philosopher – 120 years of birth”, the symposium “Ioan Alexandru or hymns of joy” and the symposium “Poet Valentin Rosca – things in the middle”, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of his birth.

The events included in the program of the festival are aimed at bringing back poetry into focus. A number of poets will travel to urban and rural areas to meet with people and students.

Minister of Culture Monica Babuc said that a cultural life exists in Moldova apart from the bad things that happen in society, while what the Writers Union does by keeping this forum of the people of culture is something necessary for spirituality, moral conscience and existence.
