Greco-Roman wrestler Victor Ciobanu has won the Zagreb Open international wrestling tournament, IPN reports.
He scored three victories in the 63 kg class, against Germany’s Andrej Ginc, Norway’s Stig Andre Berge and Niklas Ohlen of Sweden. In the final, Ciobanu defeated Sweden’s Ohlen 8-7 after he was led by 0-7.
Donior Islamov (67 kg) and Gabriel Lupashko (82 kg) also climbed on to the winner’s rostrum. They won bronzes after beating Mirzobek Rakhmatov of Uzbekistan and, respectively, Italy’s Matteo Maffezzoli in the small final.
The freestyle wrestlers also competed in Nice. They won three medals in the Grand Prix de France tournament. Mihail Sava won silver, while Yevgenny Nedealko and Leonid Kolesnic won bronzes. In the final of the 70 kg class, Sava lost to Zurabi Iakobishvili of Georgia.
