Greco-Roman wrestler Victor Ciobanu won a gold medal at the European Wrestling Championships of Bucharest after defeating Russian world champion Sergei Emelin in the final of the 60 kg weight class, IPN reports.
Ciobanu was leading by 4-0,but Emelin recovered and took the score to 5-4. The Moldovan wrestler managed to get one more point that turned out to be decisive. In the previous rounds, Ciobanu defeated Croatia’s Ivan Lizatovic, Bulgaria’s Avgustin Spasov and Lenur Temirov of Ukraine.
Last year, Victor Ciobanu won silver at the World Championships, losing in the final to the same Sergey Emelin.
