Wrestler Maxim Canter fails to mount winners’ rostrum at World Championships

The Cadet World Freestyle, Greco-Roman and Women’s Wrestling Championships are taking place in Athens. The Greco-Roman wrestling competition was held the first, IPN reports.

In the 58 kg weight class, Maxim Canter had four fights. In the qualifying rounds, the student of the Chisinau Sports Lyceum beat Tunisian wrestler Montassar Nasraoui 3-1, while in the 1/8 finals defeated Turkey’s Mustafa Safa Yildirim 8-4. In the quarterfinals, Canter lost to the future champion Mohsen Fathollah Madhani of Iran 0-8. In the runoffs, he was beaten by Bulgaria’s Ivo Krasimirov Iliev 3-9.

The Roman wrestling competition also involved Leonid Moroz (42 kg), Corneliu Rusu (50 kg), Daniel Bostan (63 kg), Alexandrin Gutu (69 kg), Vladislav Gutu (76 kg) and Dan Castrasan (85 kg). They were all eliminated early from the competition.
