Greco-Roman wrestler Alexandrin Gutu won gold at the Cadet World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb after scoring five victories in the 71 kg weight class, IPN reports.
Before reaching the final, Gutu beat Eimantas Vilimas of Lithuania, Georgia’s Giori Shpetishvili, Russia’s Stepan Starodubtsev and Abdullah Ates of Turkey. In the final, the Moldovan wrestler demolished Japan’s Shu Yamada 12-2.
Another Moldovan wrestler, Leonid Moroz, finished fifth in the 48 kg class. In the match for the bronze medal, he lost to India’s Arshad Arshad 0-2.
