World War II bombs found in garden of Lazo resident

Twenty-five bombs produced in Germany, dating from World War II, were discovered in the garden of an inhabitant of Lazo village of Stefan Voda district during agricultural works. A bomb disposal squad of the “Codru” Battalion defused them, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the combat engineers of the National Army in March neutralized 160 explosive devices in the districts of Orhei, Stefan Voda, Ungheni, Ialoveni, Hancesti, Causeni, and Telenesti.

The bomb squads destroyed 74 bombs, 17 artillery shells, three F-1 hand grenades, 17 anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, 14 anti-tank missiles and nine mine warheads.
