World teenagers call on governments to prevent sexual exploitation of children

Adolescents from the entire world urge the governments and the international organizations to adopt national systems protecting and preventing the children's sexual exploitation, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from UNICEF. Some 300 teenagers from 96 countries participated in the third world congress against the sexual exploitation of children in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Moldova was represented by CCF Moldova - Copil, Comunitate, Familie NGO and two girls from Ialoveni district, aged 15 and 16. They were selected to represent Moldova because they have actively taken part in the training organized by the CCF Moldova for youths in order to prevent trafficking children. The teenagers recommended, at the congress, to harmonize laws to make sure the trafficked victims benefit from protection, regardless of the place they are in; the trafficked children are treated as victims, without criminalizing them; setting up services to rehabilitate children subjected to sexual exploitation. Guided by the Brazilian organization Viração, the adolescents were supported to attended the world congress by UNICEF, Save the Children, International Plan, World Vision, ECPAT, the International Institute for Community Development (IIDAC), and other NGOs.
