World Refugee Day marked in Chisinau by a film festival

The World Refugee Day is marked in Chisinau by a festival of films about refugees. Two films reflecting this subject are to be shown on June 23 and 24 at the “Odeon” cinema. According to the organisers, the “Odeon” cultural centre and the representation of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Moldova (UNHCR), have scheduled on these two dates the films by directors from Great Britain, Germany and Austria. Thus, the film entitled “Asylum”, directed by Nigel Roffe-Barker from Great Britain will be shown on June 23 at 5.00pm and on June 24 at 8.20pm. The second film “Unveild”, signed by director Angelina Maccarone, will be shown to the Chisinau audience on June 23 at 8.20pm and on June 24 at 5.00pm. The access is free for all those who wish to familiarise themselves with the issues the refugees are coping with. The World Refugee Day is marked on June 20. As a result of the 1996 Geneva Conference on the Problems of Refugees, Displaced Persons, Migration and Asylum Issues, the representation of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees is set up a year later in Moldova.
