World Congress of Families held in Chișinău

Delegates from ten states, including representatives of different religions denominations, came to Chișinău to take part in the twelfth World Congress of Families that is held during September 14-16, IPN reports.

The Congress’ president Brian Brown said the event is held annually because the activities aimed at consolidating the idea of traditional family should continue. Those who came to the Congress are not alone. They have supporters all over the world.

His Holiness Vladimir, Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and All Moldova, who could not take part in the event because he is taking part in the extraordinary meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Church, transmitted a message to the message to the participants in the Congress The message says the family crisis can be overcome by the cooperation between the state and the church, by the education of children and young people, by the social assistance of families with many children and vulnerable families.

Archbishop Dmitri Smirnov, who came to Chișinău to deliver the message of the Patriarch of the Russian Church  Kirill, said the contemporary world is in front of a difficult choice: to be faithful to the traditional, correct understanding of the family that is built on the love between a man and a woman or to follow another path where the ideal of marriage does not exist. He voiced hope that the Congress will make everyone understand or strengthen the convictions that only the traditional marriage is the only one that can exist.

Governor of Găgăuzia Irina Vlah said the family is important in the education of people, in the formation of personalities. In Găgăuzia, they implement social programs aimed at supporting the family. The region’s authorities prepare a new project called the First House by which subsidies of up to 50% of the home loan will be provided from the region’s budget, while the young specialists with children would benefit from a 10% rise in allowances for each child.

Elena Mizulina, a member of the Federation Council of Russia, said the antifamily values are aimed against the people. She expressed her bewilderment at the Moldovan Parliament’s decision to reject President Igor Dodon’s initiative to institute the maternal capital that is designed to support the family. She recommended Moldova to learn from Russia’s experience in this regard.

Christie Vollmer, a member of the Pontifical Council for the Family representing Latin America, said the family is the only one that can satisfy the need for love. There is now evidence that an increasing number of people want to embrace the values of the right family, regardless of the temptations at the global level.

The World Congress of Families is held under the patronage of the President of Moldova Igor Dodon.
