World Bank Country Director to Pay Work Visit to Moldova

On October 9-10, 2006, the World Bank Country Director for Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova, Mr. Paul Bermingham, will pay a 2-day working visit to Chisinau.
The agenda of the visit includes high-level consultations with the Prime Minister, Vasile Tarlev, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Zinaida Greceanii, and other top officials of line ministries, to further discussion of World Bank development assistance to Moldova. Bermingham will meet the Bank key development partners from the donor community of Moldova to discuss aspects of coordination and strengthening the overall donors’ assistance to the country.
The Bank official will also have a field trip to a project site under the AIDS Control Project, supported by the World Bank. Bermingham will take stock of the activity of the Youth Friendly Health Center “ATIS”, located in the City of Balti.
At the end of his visit to Moldova, Mr. Bermigham will hold a press event consisting of two parts on the Signing Ceremony of the Grant Agreement for the SIDA Sweden Grant in support to the Bank-financed Rural Investment and Services II Project; and the presentation of the Word Development Report 2007 – Bank publication which focuses on Youth and Development.
