World as seen by children with special needs

An exhibition of photographs taken by boys of the Orhei-based boarding school for children with mental disabilities, who want to become photographers, was opened at the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The children learned to take photos within a workshop that is part of the project “Inclusive Community – Moldova”, said project director Ludmila Malcoci.
One of the children Victor Merla said that since he learned to photograph, they take photos of everything they see – flowers, friends, the village and the house. He said he wants to learn well as he dreams of gathering money for buying a car.
Victor suffers from an epileptic disease. His mother Mariana Merla said that at the beginning the boy was withdrawn and uncommunicative. Such activities help Victor to be more sociable. He likes to learn and to walk in order to take photos.
Another boy, Ion Radu said that his favorite photo is that of a watch. “I photographed a watch in order to show that life goes on,” said Ion. Autumn is the season that inspires him most of all. “I like autumn because it is a nice season,” he stated.
During the inauguration of the exhibit, the boys received by a diploma. The exhibition will continue until December 2.
