The Millennium Challenge Fund Moldova (FPM Moldova) has signed contracts with two companies that will supervise the rehabilitation works on the Sarateni-Soroca road that are carried out within the Compact Program. Under the first contract to the value of US$3.29 million, there will be monitored the construction works on a road segment of about 45 km, from the intersection to Sarateni up to Prodanesti village. The second contract of over US$3 million will finance the supervision of the construction of a road section of 48 km, from Prodanesti up to the intersection to Drochia. The two companies will examine the construction materials used in the works and will verify and approve the quality of the executed works. They will also make sure that the road safety and environment protection norms are met. FPM Moldova executive director Valentina Badrajan said the contracts with construction companies that will repair the Sarateni-Soroca road will be signed next week so that all those involved in the rehabilitation of the road start work in time. The Sarateni-Soroca road forms part of the national road M2 that connects Moldova and Ukraine. This road is now in a very bad state. About 60% of it must be fully repaired.
