The works to apply road markings in Chisinau started on May 13. The main arteries and the secondary streets that are used by public transport will be marked the first, IPN reports, quoting the Chisinau City Hall.
The municipality said markings will appear on all the streets, on pedestrian crossings and near education institutions in Chisinau. The works were planned to last for three months, but the schedule could be modified if the weather conditions do not permit carrying out the works.
This year, the markings will be applied with white and yellow acrylic paint. The markings at public transport stations will be yellow.
The works will be executed by the road maintenance company “Exdrupo”, with three teams. The planned 120,000 square meters of areas will be painted with about 79 tonnes of paint that were bought at a contest. A sum of 13 million lei was allocated for the purpose.
Earlier, the acting manager of “Exdrupo” Sergiu Tomiță told IPN that the municipality at the start of February chose the contractor that was to deliver the paint, but the contest results were challenged by another participant for the reason that the winning firm didn’t present a compliance certificate for the paint. A new firm was selected as a result of reassessments.
