The Romanian company “Transgaz” started to build the Ungheni-Chisinau natural gas pipeline. The managers of “Vestmoldtransgaz” earlier this week signed the contract for the construction of the administrative complex Ghidighici. The signing of the document marks the start of the construction works and of the implementation of measures to operate, exploit and maintain the Iași-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, “Vestmoldtransgaz” is the technical operator of the national natural gas transportation system of Moldova and ensures the fulfilment of the conditions of efficiency, transparency, safety, non-discriminatory access and competitiveness of the national natural gas transportation strategy by observing the European and national legislation, the quality, performance, environmental and sustainable development standards.

“The building of the pipeline will lead to the sustainable development of the national economy. Owing to this project, we have a new gas alternative that will consolidate energy security. This project also means smaller gas prices for our citizens. I wish success to the team of “Vestmoldtransgaz” and wish them to keep to all the contractual terms so that the planned works are performed on time,” said Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Kiril Gaburici.

In the case of lots for which no appropriate bids that meet the assignment documentation were submitted, “Vestmoldtransgaz” resumed the procurement process and recently initiated five open tendering procedures for which bids are expected until January 21, 2019.
